I’ve long admired Clint Eastwood, going back to his days as Rowdy Yates on the television show, “Rawhide.” From “Hang ‘Em High″ to “Unforgiven,” and his days as Dirty Harry on the streets of San Francisco and New Orleans, Clint has always been both a “man’s man” and a “woman’s man,” something that is not easy for an actor (or a director) to pull off. In his role as “Walt Kowalski,” a bigoted and recently widowed Korean War veteran who is particular to Pabst beers and an endless supply of cigarettes, Clint embraces this hard-edged Polack in such a way that the viewer is always pulling for him.

Samurai Katana – The Amazing Power and Appeal Behind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
August 9th, 2009Twenty years ago, when I was kid, my samurai spirit was sent free when I opened the very first TMNT comic! It dramatically began with my all-time favorite samurai katana hero’s unforgettable words, “My name is Leonardo…I hold my katana in a relaxed ready position…I sense my body quivering with tense energy, waiting to be triggered into savage, slashing release!” I was “mondo″ HOOKED! I have collected ton of TMNT comics since then, and the image that sticks with me is the on-going depiction of the fearless leader, Leonardo, with his samurai katana shining with fierce expectation of the battle that has just begun.

What is the Best TV Series to Buy As a Gift For Dad?
August 6th, 2009Like it or not the holidays are only a few months away. Once the kids are back in school and the sand has been cleaned from the bathing suits, it will be that time when you have to get crackin’ on gifts for Mom and Dad. You will struggle again to find something special for Dad, and end up getting him a tie or movie tickets again. Why not try to take a bit of time and ask the question “what is the best tv show he would love to have on DVD?” Through the magic of technology, many of these old shows are now DVD box sets that can be offered as the perfect gift.

Movie Review – Inglourious Basterds
August 2nd, 2009This weekend I was one of the many who went to see Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds.” The movie begins in the idyllic French countryside at the home of a dairy farmer and his three daughters. Down the country road rumble the Nazi soldiers led by the much dreaded Col. Hans ‘Jew Hunter’ Landa (a terrific Christoph Waltz). Landa believes the farmer is illegally harboring the Jewish Dreyfus family.
